The 24th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) kicked off at the Busan Cinema Center in the city’s Haeundae District. The festival will feature films from all over the world for 10 days. After dealing with the controversy caused by its 2014 screening of “Diving Bell,” which focused on the Sewol ferry tragedy, the festival is set to go back into “normal” mode. This year’s festival will feature 303 films from 85 countries, including 97 world premieres and 23 short films. Ahead of the festival’s 25th anniversary next year, BIFF organizers are hoping for this year to propel the event into becoming one of the world’s top film festivals.
