A photograph of four renowned traditional musicians and singers (known as soriggun) taken during the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea has been discovered. The musicians depicted in the photograph are known as the first to release a recording of the Korean folk song “Arirang.” The photo of four musicians, taken in 1913, was revealed to the Hankyoreh on Aug. 29, and will be exhibited at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul starting Oct. 17.
