South Korea has around 30,000 dolmen, heavy rocks mounted at ancient burial sites for tribal leaders. Dolmen are scattered around the country, but the three main sites are Ganghwa Island in Incheon, Hwasun in South Jeolla Province and Gochang in North Jeolla Province.

In Gochang, the dolmen are located in a conservation area that is only accessible by official bus. There are 447 dolmens in Gochang.
