An exhibition has opened where visitors can see artworks related to the violence and frenzy that took place in Gwangju in May, 1980. Gwangju Museum of Art and the Gwangju Memorial Foundation are jointly holding the exhibition, titled “The Story of May in Gwangju” from Oct. 14 to Jan. 15. The exhibition features 11 paintings owned by Gwangju Museum, not only by artists who witnessed the violence in Gwangju, but also by Kim Seok-chool, an ethic Korean from Japan, and by Anne Grethe Henke of Germany.
