The ruling Uri Party was never expected to have smooth sailing in the regional elections next week, but both members of the party or people closely associated with it keep making matters worse.

First, National Assemblyman Lee Won-young told a radio program that special forces went to Gwangju in May of 1980 "to maintain order."

Then, Moon Jae-in, associated with President Roh, made comments that seemed intended to incite regionalism.

Now Roh Hye-gyeong, head of the Roh Moo-hyun "fan club" Nosamo, says that if GNP chairwoman Park Geun-hye received sixty stitches after an attacker cut her face with a knife on Sunday, she must have had so many because she also got some plastic surgery thrown in on the side.

The man on watch duty at the front of the ship is forced to wonder what is going to hit Uri next.
