The South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) has designated high-speed internet a universal service. MSIT has tasked KT, the country’s top provider, to build the infrastructure for high-speed internet in remote areas like mountains and fishing villages that have been left out of Korea’s blossoming internet revolution. The move makes South Korea the eighth country in the world to provide high-speed internet for all citizens, but the speed of 100Mbps is the fastest of any universal internet coverage in the world.
